Infant Massage Group Classes

Class dates: Currently group classes have been suspended during COVID (Five week consecutive course)

Class time: 11:00am-12:30pm

Location: TBD

About the class:

Prenatal parents are welcome in this class! Dolls will be available for massage technique practice in each session. This class is for babies aged 4 weeks-5 months and one of their parents or caregivers. Due to the venue being a small space, this class is only for one caregiver/parent per infant. Parents can alternate days if they all want a turn in class.

Incorporating infant massage in your at-home routines is a beautiful way to promote bonding and attachment, aid in your baby's learning process, and aid in physiological processes (such as digestion and sleep!). Research indicates that regularly massaged babies are more relaxed, acquire mental and motor skills earlier and gain weight faster than non-massaged babies. Chelsey is excited to share massage with you and your family!

Infant massage is taught to parents and caregivers in a five-week consecutive course (one class per week for five weeks). In each class a new part of your baby’s body is addressed, through massage techniques. Each class will focus on learning the new techniques and repeating the techniques learned in previous classes. At the end of the series caregivers will have learned an entire massage sequence that includes legs/feet, stomach, chest, arms/hands, face and back. Between classes, the parent/caregiver is encouraged to practice at home with their infants and share their skills and knowledge with other caregivers. Other topics that are introduced, discussed, and taught in the course include:

  • Massage conditions - when and how to massage

  • Oil varieties

  • Infant behavioral states

  • Colic/Gas differences and routine for relief of symptoms

  • Touch Relaxation

  • Gentle movements

  • Difference between a physical cry and an emotional cry

  • Discussion on crying and listening

  • Benefits of infant massage for your baby, the caregiver, the family unit, and society

  • Infant reflexes

  • Bonding and Attachment

  • Understanding and responding to your baby’s cues

  • Conversations about teaching consent and body autonomy/gaining permission from your baby

  • Adaptations of the massage as your child grows

  • Songs/rhymes to use during infant massage

Cost: $275 payable via credit/debit card. Must be paid in full by first class. Price is per one parent/caregiver and baby unit. A bottle of oil and an instruction packet is included in this cost.

Please contact Chelsey directly at cswan.lmt@gmail.com to register for this class.

Yes!  Dolls will be available in class so you can practice the massage techniques.

Infant Massage private Lessons

Class dates: By appointment only

Class time: By appointment only. Classes are 60-75 minutes long.

Location: Your own home

About private lessons:

Private lessons are customized to you and your baby’s needs in the comfort of your own home. You can do one class as an introduction to infant massage basics, or combine multiple private classes so that you learn massage for the whole body! It is your choice

In the first class we go over infant massage basics, like when, how, and under what conditions to provide massage, and understanding baby cues vs reflexes. We start with learning massage strokes for areas that are less sensitive, like the legs and arms. In subsequent classes we can go deeper into our learning about babies and massage and learn techniques for the belly, chest, back, and face in order to complete your knowledge about massage for the whole body. Each class is about an hour long and in your own home.

Other topics that may be introduced, discussed, and taught in private lessons include:

  • Massage conditions - when and how to massage

  • Oil varieties

  • Infant behavioral states
